This year National Child Day marks a special milestone: the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child!
On the heels of a federal election, Canada will also have a new government in place, making it a timely occasion to discuss the unfinished business of children's rights in Canada and the urgent need for action.
Join us in Calgary and hear from children and adults from coast to coast to coast and join in a national conversation on what it will take to make Canada the best place in the world for kids to grow up.
This year’s celebrations include:
An interactive panel discussion with community leaders that work with and invest in kids. The panel will be moderated by Tara Nelson, Anchor and Executive Editor at CTV Calgary.
Creative presentations from children and youth about their rights and the Canadian Children's Charter, and how to close the gap between the promises made and the realities of their daily lives.
Interactive discussions with young people, community leaders and organizations working with children and youth about the current challenges we are facing and a plan for action.
Connections with National Child Day Celebrations across the country, including events in Ottawa, Halifax and Iqaluit.
Catered lunch served by the culinary high school students at Lord Shaughnessy
